The NHSO Public Safety Cadets Program Is Now Open

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the launch of its official Public Safety Cadets program — and we’re inviting young leaders like you to become part of something bigger than yourself.

This program is open to youth ages 14–20 who are interested in law enforcement, public safety, or community service. Whether you're exploring a career in criminal justice or looking to gain leadership experience while making a difference, this is your chance to get involved and stand out.

What Is the Public Safety Cadets Program?

The Public Safety Cadets Program is a national, nonprofit organization that partners with law enforcement agencies across the country to mentor young adults and prepare them for careers in public safety.

Now, through the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office chapter, local cadets will have the opportunity to train alongside law enforcement professionals, develop leadership skills, and participate in real-world service opportunities — all while being guided by mentors who are committed to their success.

What Will You Do as a Cadet?

As an NHSO Cadet, you'll gain hands-on experience, challenge yourself physically and mentally, and grow as a future leader.
